A new genus and new species of spittlebug (Hemiptera: Cercopidae: Ischnorhininae) from Southern Brazil Rev. Bras. Zool.
Paladini,Andressa; Cavichioli,Rodney Ramiro.
A new genus of spittlebug is described to include Gervasiella oakenshieldi sp. nov. (holotype male from Brazil, state of Paraná, municipality of Piraquara, Mananciais da Serra at 25°29'46"S, 48°58'54"W, 1000 m a.s.l., 15.XI.2008, P.C. Grossi leg., deposited in DZUP). In addition, Aeneolamia bucca Paladini & Cavichioli, 2013 is transferred to Gervasiella gen. nov. based on the results of a cladistic analysis. Gervasiella gen. nov. can be distinguished from the other cercopid genera by the following: postclypeus inflated with upper portion black and basal one yellowish; color of tylus distinct from color of head and rostrum, barely reaching mesocoxae. Gervasiella oakenshieldi sp. nov. is diagnosed by having the head black with tylus white, postclypeus in...

A new species of Aeneolamia (Hemiptera: Cercopidae: Tomaspidinae) from the Neotropical Region Rev. Bras. Zool.
Paladini,Andressa; Cavichioli,Rodney Ramiro.
Aeneolamiabucca sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on specimens collected in the municipality of São José do Barreiro, state of São Paulo, Brazil. This new species can be distinguished from others of the genus by presenting an aedeagus with two long and slender processes directed upward (in the other species of the genus, this processes are directed downward); paramere with only one subapical strong spine and a concavity located below this spine, which is unusual in the Neotropical genera.

Domahovski,Alexandre Cruz; Paladini,Andressa; Cavichioli,Rodney Ramiro.
Gypona (Marganalana) masamunesp. nov. is described and illustrated based on specimens from Brazil, state of Paraná. This species can be distinguished from the others of the genus by the following combination of characters: 1) connective with stalk apex oriented anteriorly; 2) style, in lateral view, L-shaped and broader subapically; apex tapered and acute; 3) aedeagus slender, curved dorsally, with long and slender processes arising on each side of shaft near the base, as long as aedeagus shaft; shaft without apical processes. A key to the six subgenera of Gypona is provided.

Egg Brochosomes of Proconiini (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae, Cicadellinae) species associated with cultivation of grapevines Scientia Agricola
Azevedo Filho,Wilson Sampaio de; Botton,Marcos; Paladini,Andressa; Carvalho,Gervásio Silva; Ringenberg,Rudiney; Lopes,João Roberto Spotti.
Brochosomes production is considered a feature of Cicadellidae, and may represent an outstanding innovation which has played an important role in the development and diversification of this insect group. The objective of this study was to identify the species of Proconiini that produced egg brochosomes associated with grapevines in the Serra Gaúcha region of Brazil. Egg brochosome characteristics and an identification key are also discussed. The specimens were collected using yellow sticky cards in four vineyards (Vitis vinifera L.) from October 2004 to May 2006. Eight species capable of producing egg brochosomes were identified:Acrogonia citrina Marucci & Cavichioli; Homalodisca ignorata Melichar; Molomea consolida Schröder; Molomea lineiceps...

Endemism analysis of Neotropical Pentatomidae (Hemiptera, Heteroptera) Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Ferrari,Augusto; Paladini,Andressa; Schwertner,Cristiano Feldens; Grazia,Jocelia.
The definition of areas of endemism is central to studies of historical biogeography, and their interrelationships are fundamental questions. Consistent hypotheses for the evolution of Pentatomidae in the Neotropical region depend on the accuracy of the units employed in the analyses, which in the case of studies of historical biogeography, may be areas of endemism. In this study, the distribution patterns of 222 species, belonging to 14 Pentatomidae (Hemiptera) genera, predominantly neotropical, were studied with the Analysis of Endemicity (NDM) to identify possible areas of endemism and to correlate them to previously delimited areas. The search by areas of endemism was carried out using grid-cell units of 2.5° and 5° latitude-longitude. The analysis...

Revisão taxonômica de Kanaima Distant (Hemiptera, Cercopidae, Ischnorhininae) Rev. Bras. entomol.

Seasonality of dung beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeinae) in Atlantic Forest sites with different levels of disturbance in southern Brazil Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Cassenote,Sheila; Silva,Pedro Giovâni da; Mare,Rocco Alfredo Di; Paladini,Andressa.
ABSTRACT Dung beetle species were collected between May 2016 and July 2017 with pitfall traps baited with human feces in four Atlantic Forest sites with different levels of disturbance in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. We sampled 5,535 individuals belonging to 46 species. Canthidium aff. trinodosum (20.71%), Eurysternus parallelus Castelnau, 1840 (14.82%), Onthophagus catharinensis Paulian, 1936 (12.09%), Scybalocanthon nigriceps (Harold, 1868) (7.61 %), Eurysternus caribaeus (Herbst, 1789) (7.49%), and Canthon rutilans cyanescens Harold, 1868 (7.22%) were the most abundant species, which represented 70% of the individuals sampled. Moreno Fortes Biological Reserve had the higher richness and Morro do Cerrito the higher abundance, while...
